Feeling Snuggly ❄

The Logical Heart Knows Best

It’s been colder and snowier here this winter and I’m getting a smidge of cabin fever. I feel sluggish, relaxed, like I wanna burrow under the covers while drifting in and out of a half slumber. The white stillness and gray blanket of sky creates a suspended animation, an otherwordly crystalline frozenness, brrrr, shiver. Must hibernate 🙂

The perfect excuse for long, hot baths and reading 🙂 I’ve always loved to read. As a girl I always had a book nestled treasuringly in my arms and I’d read at every chance, even sneaking a flashlight, or reading by streetlight when I was supposed to be asleep. I couldn’t wait to see what happened. I’d be totally immersed in the stories, my vivid imagination ignited and engaged. Hopelessly immersed and living out the scenarios in my mind. I felt like I was there and I became the characters and lived their adventures vicariously 😀

In this cold weather I’ve discovered super indulgent bath reading. I make a sauna by capturing the steam with the closed shower curtains. Heats me to my core. I have to rest and cool down after the bath. So I read some more, lightheaded, flush faced, panting while stretched out in bed. I feel like I’m getting away with something, pampering myself this way 🙂

As an adult my reading has taken more of a backseat depending on the demands of life. Sometimes I’d have my library card constantly maxed out, other years I was too tired to even care about reading. All I wanted was some sleep, some solitude, pure quiet nothingness or to veg out mindlessly to Netflix 🙂

Currently I’m reading again and it’s been such a treat! I’m especially loving listening to audiobooks while going on nature walks. I’ve been sorely missing this during this wintery cold spell. When it’s sunny I get a walk in here and there, but I’m going through nature withdrawals, lol 🙂 ?

Great excuse to hunker down and indulge in one of my favorite things, reading. I joined Goodreads and it’s fun to do the yearly reading challenge and to check out the reviews and what your friends recommend 🙂 In 2019 I read and listened to 59 books, didn’t start the reading challenge until May. This year my plan is to read/listen to at least 100 books, fun! There’s more than enough to choose from at the library including audible, digital books. Plus they have Prospector and Mobius where you can find books from allover the region, so cool!

My plan to help shake off this wintery grogginess is to do some exercise, yoga or dance video workouts…starting Monday? I want to do some Denise Austin I used to do faithfully for years. I won’t do the Jillian Michael’s shred ones because we’re upstairs and I don’t think our downstairs neighbors would appreciate it! I might accidently thunder crash down through the floor onto their heads, lmao! I love yoga with Adriene! Yeah, that’s the plan 🙂

I made a pitcher of grapefruit smoothie to sip on this week for a quick perk me up…such a clean, refreshing feeling.

I’m yawning as I type 🙂 The cozy blankets, fluffy pillows and enveloping mattress cushions are calling to me, stop it naughty bed! You’re too comfy for your own good! I want to dive into you right now! Alas, I need to do my videos for a group challenge. I’m one day behind. I know if I don’t do it tonight, I will wait until Monday and will then be 3 days behind. They say it’s ok to play catch up though. I already did that last week, did 3 videos on Mon. turned out fine…so tempting to stealthily slink under the covers and read till I drift away… Gotta wake up early 0400. Oh, looked outside, it’s snowing again! So ethereally beautiful….brrr though, lol! ❄

What would you do if you were me? Heh 🙂 Feeling snuggly ?
