Simple Fixes

The Logical Heart Knows Best

It’s sometimes difficult to do what your intuition tells you. Your habitual mind often overrides the quieter voice of intuition. I get in touch with my intuition the best through meditation and journaling.

My intuition has been telling me repeatedly to rest more, but I continue to talk myself out of it because it doesn’t jibe with what I think would get me going in the direction I want more quickly.

Just the other day I was doing the Stature course and journaling answers, at one point I was saying aloud rest, rest, rest, I need rest, it’s like something came up from within me that I’d been denying. It surprised me how emphatically I felt about wanting rest. It’s like I’ve shoved it aside because it wasn’t what I wanted to hear and wasn’t what I wanted to do either.

Well what do you know, I’ve been resting, like in bed resting and I’m feeling like I’m turning a corner here towards wellness, yay! The question is how long do I keep resting? Guess I will check in with my intuition and it will let me know and I will comply, lol.

It is a good time to get some rest, so might as well take advantage of it.

Another funny thing since we’ve been staying home. The neighbors are all home too, so when I have the blinds open I’ve been feeling like I’m on display. I was feeling a bit anxious because of it. They’d be out on their balcony which is across from us, I’d be scrounging in the kitchen, feeling uneasy, so I’d leave the cupboard door open to kinda block the view.

This week I tried something different and slanted the blinds slightly so it feels like we have more privacy, but can still see out and enjoy the sunshine too. What a relief! I don’t feel like I’m giving a performance every day, lol. Such simple things that nag at us with life’s changes. Good thing there are simple fixes. I suppose I could have tried to overcome my uneasiness by changing my thoughts about the situation, like telling myself that they aren’t looking in anyhow, but it was easier to just shift the blinds.

All of the changes I encounter give me choices and chances to learn and grow, adapt, become stronger, more skillful, and resilient. I continue to have to keep up with myself because I’m in a relationship with everyone/everything which depends on my relationship with myself. That’s why it’s helpful when I listen and abide by my intuition too because it sees things that I may be missing. It’s challenging to balance discipline, will, and persistence with self-care, levity, and pleasure, that’s where intuition helps a lot, at least for me.

Well, back to more resting. I’m so relieved it’s working. Note to self, stop being so hard-headed and listen more to the still, small voice of the logical heart.
