Heart Emojis

The Logical Heart Knows Best

I felt like cooking, so we had our Thanksgiving meal today. I made cornbread stuffing, sweet potato casserole, collard greens, fresh cranberry sauce, and apple crisp. I also roasted the pumpkin seeds with a cinnamon-sugar coating. I will make the pumpkin pie this week. I want to make a coconut pie too. Then it’ll be Christmas and I’ll cook more holiday food again.

We finished watching The Handmaid’s Tale last night, now we wait until the next season. We are so fortunate, there’s so much to watch while we’re hunkering down this winter. I also have so many books to read and listen to. Then there’s the gaming we can do too. We get to visit with family on video, it’s so much better than talking on the phone or writing letters (like in the olden days, lol). Everything is going well for us and our loved ones too, we are so grateful. We just have to ride out this pandemic.

I finished listening to another book today, Enough As She Is by Rachel Simmons. If you have a daughter, it has excellent insight and recommendations on how to help girls navigate the complex world of today. I wish I’d have had a book like this to help me when raising our daughter.

The highlight of my day was FaceTiming with the kids. I miss them so much, but am so thankful we get to see each other on video. They recharge my heart with each video visit or phone call. I text them every day just to say I love them and miss them. I confess I send them too many heart emojis. I’m hoping we’ll get to see one another in person next year.

I’m grasping for something more to write. There’s not much going on here, staying indoors, it feels like hibernation time. Guess I’ll go tuck back in and hibernate right. We’ll watch the series finale of The Undoing, we’ll see whodunit.
