The Ignite Video Challenge
Hi, y’all! I just wanted to share this. I participated in Niamh Arthur’s Ignite Video Challenge in January 2020 and it was fantastic! I wanted to improve my relationship with making videos and become more comfortable. This challenge helped me so much! Within the first week of doing this challenge I was seeing improvements and felt so much better about making videos. By the end of the challenge, I loved making videos and learned how to make technical improvements and be more at ease recording myself. I especially loved the warmth and caring of the group, they were so supportive. The main theme was “connection, not perfection.”
What really surprised me was how therapeutic it is to express yourself with videos. It helped me build the courage to speak my truth. Watching myself on video led to more self-acceptance, self-love, and empowerment. It helped me to see myself from the outside looking in and gave me a healthier perspective about myself and my value. It boosted my self-worth and confidence. I believe expressing oneself through videos is beneficial for any person who wants to claim more agency over their lives and explore themselves more fully. To express the truth of who they really are.
Here’s a video I made back then.
The ignite video challenge is held in a private Facebook group and lasts four weeks. It only takes a few minutes a day to do and you get weekends off or can play catch up if you’ve fallen behind. It’s low-pressure and fun! I even made friends with others from all over the world by doing the challenge. You get to practice making videos and get supportive feedback within the safe space of the group. Being in a group also helps you feel like you’re all in it together, helping each other in the process of learning how to make videos. You get to see each other’s progress, it’s lovely to be a part of one another’s transformations.
Go from camera shy to camera confident in just four weeks!
