Comparing Ourselves to Others
Though it’s human nature to compare ourselves to others, it’s not always helpful. Maybe we compare ourselves to someone we admire and it inspires us to make healthy changes to be more like them? That’s okay to a point. Sometimes comparing ourselves to others makes us hypercritical of ourselves and that ends up sabotaging us. We are all so unique and it doesn’t help us to feel bad when we think we don’t measure up when we compare ourselves. There are too many diverse factors involved to compare ourselves to others. It’s not an accurate measure. It’s more empowering to focus on how far we’ve come, the progress we’ve made, and the fact we’ve made it through adversity. Better to build ourselves up by what’s true and measurable in our own lives rather than comparing ourselves to others. ♡
