Long Covid Flare-up
I got Covid on Feb. 25, 2020, and have had issues ever since, with symptoms flaring up whenever my body is stressed physically, mentally, or emotionally. I was doing so much better from June 2021 until Sept. 2021 when I tested myself by doing a strenuous workout and flared again but was improving in Oct. Then on Nov. 4th, 2021 I got the booster and flu vaccine and have been in a flare ever since. I’m feeling better, but it’s taking too long!
Thankfully, I’d recorded a big batch of videos in Oct. I’m working on building a business, so I have a flexible way to make a living because my health is so unpredictable. I also have Mal de Debarquement syndrome since 2015, caused by the only cruise I’ve been on. Long covid flare-ups exacerbate the MdDS. What a roller coaster it’s been.
People don’t believe you are really ill when they only see you when you are not in a flare-up and never see you sick. Even medical professionals do not take you seriously. They dismiss it as being a psychological issue, especially if you are a woman because there is no test they can perform to prove your illness. That’s one reason why ME/CFS has been neglected and now look at the mess we’re in with so many of us suffering from long covid (some symptoms are like ME/CFS) and no good solutions.
People are being put through many unnecessary tests while being shuffled to multiple specialists, trying to seek relief with little to be found. We are experimenting with multiple medications, supplements, anti-inflammatory diets, fasting, and functional medicine treatments in desperation. With long covid you can’t push through, you must rest or risk making it even worse. You must pace your activities to avoid flare-ups.
Many people cannot work with long covid and are being denied disability even with an attorney’s help. In the meantime, they cannot pay their bills on top of being ill. If you contract Covid, there is always a risk you may get long covid even if your case was mild or asymptomatic. The unvaccinated are skeptical thinking they are doing/being all the right things and believing it won’t happen to them. They believe it’s not real. They’re more afraid of the vaccine than Covid. Or they believe they’re immune because they’ve already had Covid. Many of those people wish they would have gotten vaccinated once they get sick, or die wishing they’d been vaccinated. I got vaccinated and boosted and I’m so glad. I wear a KN95 mask indoors if I venture out and keep my distance. I do not wish to get Covid again. But if I do, I know I did everything I could to prevent it. ♡
