Long COVID is Real

The Logical Heart Knows Best

I’ve been spending a lot of time resting on our futon that we jokingly refer to as the hashbrown (I share that story here). During long COVID flares I am forced to rest and in between flare-ups, I must be careful not to overly stress my body or else risk flaring up again. It’s a delicate process and has been difficult to accept and surrender to. Long COVID is a complex, mostly invisible disease that can affect multiple systems in the body and being so new, it is poorly understood. There can be neurological symptoms ranging from brain fog to tremors, and even seizures. It seems every system in the body can be affected. Some have GI symptoms. Other symptoms are similar to those experienced with POTS, MCAS, and ME/CFS/fibromyalgia. There are other, more rare symptoms as well. Hopefully, now there will be more investment in research and treatment of these invisible diseases that are written off as anxiety, or “It’s all in your head.” #LongCovid #longhaulcovid
