
Being Vegan Feels Good
When I was around five, it horrified me to discover what meat really was. But since everyone said it was good, and we had to eat animals, I believed it. When I was growing up, I didn’t enjoy eating certain meats, but they forced me to while shaming me, called me a spoiled brat, saying it’s a luxury, how ungrateful of me when there are so many starving people in the world. I was vegetarian for many years during my adulthood and then transitioned into veganism about a decade ago. It’s been one of the best things I’ve done. I eat mostly veggies, fruits, legumes, grains, and nuts. I limit processed foods. When I eat this way, I feel better. I am lighter, calmer, steadier, emotionally, and energetically. Plus, my conscience is clear. Eating a plant-based diet saves animals, your health, and the environment. It’s cheaper and easier to prepare, too! If I get a craving, there are so many vegan substitutes now. I call it fun food and indulge periodically. I’ve found that it’s best to treat myself too, so I don’t fall into the eating disorder traps I used to have. Being vegan feels so good! ♡
