The Logical Heart Knows Best

The best decision I ever made was becoming a mother. I thought I knew what I was getting into, but nothing quite prepares you for the magnitude of being responsible for a precious child, and the unbridled joy contrasted with the all-consuming way it shifts your life. A friend once said that when you have kids, your life changes from black and white to technicolor and I agree! After kids, a light bulb went off, and I saw myself and everyone else in a new, more compassionate, reverent, loving light. I could see everyone as essentially the same as I see my children. We’re all trying to live life as best as we can. Yes, there is so much harm, it’s true. But every human started the same way as a wee, innocent babe. The same soul inhabits the adult and we all are equal that way and deserve the same reverence and respect. Of course, there are consequences for harmful behaviors and we must enforce boundaries for safety. But each life is worth the same as any other life. It is challenging being a parent. It’s not for everyone, but it grows you in ways that nothing else can. Being a parent is the most transformative thing I’ve ever experienced! ♡
